Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and hard-working individual to provide daily care for up to 12 senior dogs in a cozy, home-style sanctuary setting. This role combines hands-on animal care, light medical support, facility cleanliness, and community engagement through social media and volunteer coordination. The ideal candidate is gentle, patient, and dedicated to both animals and people, ensuring our seniors live each day feeling loved and safe.

Key Responsibilities
Animal Care
• Provide daily feeding, fresh water, and maintain individualized food/medication routines
• Administer medications and monitor dogs for changes in health or behavior
• Walk dogs and ensure consistent exercise appropriate for each dog’s ability
• Maintain a calm, nurturing environment with affection, enrichment, and emotional connection
• Report medical concerns promptly to veterinary/medical staff
Shelter Upkeep
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment, including kennel care, laundry, dishes, waste removal, and general site cleaning
• Ensure safe, comfortable living spaces for seniors, including bedding, comfort needs, and mobility assistance
Volunteer & Community Engagement
• Support, guide, and communicate with on-site volunteers
• Help coordinate volunteer tasks and maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere
• Provide updates to leadership regarding shelter needs, supplies, and scheduling
Social Media & Adoption Promotion
• Create content and post updates on Facebook and Instagram featuring adoptable dogs, daily moments, and special stories
• Assist in promoting dogs for adoption and sharing heartwarming moments that reflect our mission

Qualifications
• Passionate about senior dogs and animal welfare
• Kind, patient, emotionally grounded, and team-oriented
• Able to manage physical tasks that include lifting, walking, bending, and handling dogs of varying mobility, comfortable watching and handling dog groups of 5-10
• Comfortable administering medication with training
• Strong communication skills with volunteers, staff, and adopters
• Basic familiarity with social media posting (photos, videos, updates)
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Experience with animals preferred but not required—compassion is non-negotiable
-Management experience a plus but we are open to the right individual that shows maturity, initiative and a deep commitment to senior dog care.
Position Details
• Full Time, flexible scheduling depending on needs of sanctuary
• Work includes weekends/holidays as needed—our dogs depend on us every day
• Approximately responsible for up to 12 resident dogs
• Opportunity for growth within a mission-driven, heart-centered organization
- Coordinating events at the shelter. May include volunteer orientations, adoption events, community events

A&F is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue network operating out of Spring Hill, Kansas. We were founded in 2018, and for the past 6 years, we have saved more than 6,000 animals while also networking and promoting thousands more for other rescues to save.
